Never before in human history have we been richer, more advanced or powerful. And yet we feel overwhelmed in the face of rapid climate change. It seems simple on the surface. Greenhouse gases trap energy from the Sun and transfer it to our atmosphere. This leads to warmer winters, harsher summers. Dry places become drier and wet places wetter. Countless ecosystems will die while the rising oceans swallow coasts and the cities we build on them.
So why don’t we just like… prevent all of that? Well, it’s complicated.

The scary truth is, some humans will not care about something until they lose it

  • Josh Sebastian

If the way we've collectively handled this pandemic is anything to go by, I don't have high hopes for how we're going to fix this.

This is, hands down, the best video on climate change I've seen so far. Can you try to convince a celebrity to endorse and spread this? This needs to reach a much muchhhhh bigger audience and scale. Thanks for all your efforts on creating this and to share the knowledge with us.

Being an Environmental Studies major. This video hits the nail on the head. Literally everything talked about is something I have covered in my classes and my own research. Climate change isn't just one issue in its own. It has many categories but all leading to the same problem. Seems easy on paper but in reality it's another story. I don't believe that society will be able to solve these issues within the next hundred years. Yes we are trying but like the video said. It's complicated.

This is the type of stuff I wish we'd had in school instead of the government sponsored infomercials about buzz topics that we were shown. This is one of the best subs I've ever given on BRclip, and I will direct anyone and everyone to this channel that I think will appreciate the content.

man I was scared to watch this video for the climate-anxiety I thought I'd get. But after spending a lot of time internet-researching the subject, this video neatly summarizes what it took me months, years to understand. The idea that as an average "rich-middle-class" person my best bet is to vote for law reforms and vote with money for better, or less, is monumental. Thanks for making a great video I now can share with people that haven't gotten the message yet!

Everyone who watched this doing their part is nice, but we should share this video and spread the message!

I loved the video. Here’s the rub. I’m 70 and learned about solar power in second grade. But solar is still unreachable for most of us. People like Bill Gates talk a good show but emit much more green house emissions with their lifestyles than hundreds, if not thousands of folk like myself. And he’s not the only ‘do as I say’ proponent of lowering emissions through lifestyle changes. The rich and powerful appear to be asking the masses to make significant sacrifices but fail to make any changes themselves. I’ve always had more respect for folks who lead by example. Like the millionaire next door. Show us you mean what you say. Do as you ask us regular folk to do. Set the example.

I think a lot of issues can be solved by spreading awareness about the inner works of each issue to general public, which Kurzgesagt is doing awesomely

The situation of climate change has been posing a serious threat to us for a really long time. It has caused some bad things to us (erosion,flood,..). As an individual, I think we definitely need to work together to mitigate the potential problems. Thank you for raising awareness of this phenomenon.

  • Jose Arcas

I would never understand why aren't we doing the only thing that we actually know it's useful: massive reforestation. It's cheap, it captures CO2 but the most important thing it's that mitigate many of the climate change effects. Having extense forest where nowadays we have arid soils helps to regulate the water cycle (smaller floods, shorter drought periods), also helps to have more biodiversity and therefore protection against plagues and diseases. And for an economical point of view, for a small budget, you can create thousands of jobs on places that are being abandoned due to desertification or rural exodus.

  • Troy Mashburn

Great video and 100% accurate...but I believe people/animals/life are generally selfish and are going to do whatever is best for them...(myself included) I have made small changes in my life to lesser emissions but ultimately people are going to do what is easiest and most comfortable and enjoyable. Until we actually see really bad things happening which devastate the world and make the majority of peoples lives worse and uncomfortable we are not going to see a change. I think if humanity is able to take the next step it is going to be after a huge devastation to the species and a mass extinction and if people are able to then come together we might be able to solve this...I am doubtful this will happen and I believe this is a big reason why we do not see advanced life populating the universe because it has probably happened millions of times in other galaxies

  • Witheringblade

I love how kurzgesagt doesn’t act like you are horrible that you aren’t doing stuff or that you alone can change the world. It helps me see that I can actually be useful to the world (not likely however)
